The police are beefing up patrols now that Straight Outta Compton has opened.
The film, which opened in El Lay and elsewhere around the country this weekend, is a particular sore spot in southern California for a few reasons.
First, the rash of theater shootings around the country unfortunately makes any film opening an uncertain event for law enforcement, and second, the gang stories shown in the film are concerning to El Lay law enforcement as they worry about rival gangs in theaters at the same time!

What the what?! That's according to Naoria Vanegas, an officer with the Los Angeles Police Department, who spoke to reporters on Friday:
"We will be increasing our patrols for the weekend. In recent months, we've seen a lot of violence at movie theaters and it's a concern for Los Angeles. We don't expect anything to happen, but we want to be prepared. We know there's a possibility for rival gangs to be at the same time at the same place and that could be a bad recipe."
While the L.A. County Sheriff's Department has joined in the extra patrols, that's typical for them according to deputy Trina Schrader, saying:
"Any movie or movie theater that has a lot of people coming, if there is a lot [of people] in the theater, as a head's up or for crowd control, that's something that we do anyway."
Even Universal Pictures, who distributed the film, will be helping theaters who have asked for assistance with security while showing Straight Outta Compton. A spokesman for the company said:
"The studio has not solicited enhanced security for theaters who will begin showing it this weekend, but has partnered with those exhibitors who have requested support for their locations."
Sounds like a lot of preparation from security and law enforcement — is it necessary, though?? What do U think??
At the very least, Straight Outta Compton is expected to do very well at the box office this weekend… we'll find out HOW well soon enough!

But one thing Cyrus' team talks about in the feature is her new album -- which she wants to give away for free!!
In the piece, there's a reference to Cyrus releasing her next album completely for free -- and if her label, RCA Records, hadn't been down with that, she was allegedly prepared to buy herself out of the label just to give her fans free music! Whoa!!
Cyrus' manager, Adam Leber, says in the Marie Claire piece:
