St. Louis County Declares State Of Emergency Following Day Of Protests

This weekend marked the one year anniversary of Michael Brown being shot by a white police officer in Ferguson, Missouri, and things have still not gotten any better for the community.

That's because following Sunday's shooting, the St. Louis Police Department has declared a State of Emergency for the county.

So far, at least nine people have been arrested for throwing rocks and bottles at officers as well as resisting arrest on Monday night.

Following the protests that turned violent, the Police have been actively documenting the night on Twitter, saying:

"Unruly crowd is throwing frozen water bottles at officers. Those who choose to act violently will be arrested.

Safety, our top priority, is now compromised. This is no longer a peaceful protest. Participants are now unlawfully assembled.

Multiple verbal commands given up to this point; please follow the commands of the police department or you will be subject to arrest."

Four officers are currently on administrative leave for shooting 18-year-old Tyrone Harris, who is currently in critical condition at a nearby hospital.

Our thoughts are with the people of Ferguson at this terrible time.
