Petra Ecclestone's star-studded £4 million wedding

Recession? What recession! When Daddy is one of the world’s most affluent men, no price is too high!

Recession? What recession! When Daddy is one of the world’s most affluent men, no price is too high!

And there was definitely nothing budget about the £3.8million nuptials of Formula 1 heiress Petra Ecclestone and fiancé James Stunt last night.

The pair married in a lavish ceremony at the 15th century Odescalchi castle in Bracciano, outside Rome, where Tom Cruise wed Katie Holmes in 2006.

Naturally, the super posh three-day event was funded by racing boss Bernie Ecclestone, 80, who’s worth a cool £2.5billion. It kicked off on Friday with a pre-wedding dinner at the plush Villa Aurelia.

Guests included Paris and Nicky Hilton, Sarah Ferguson, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie and Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas.

Blonde Petra, 22, was spotted leaving her hotel in a white floor-length dress with glamorous mum Slavica, 53, and maid of honour sister Tamara, 27.

Tamara even enlisted Jordan’s make-up maestro Gary Cockerill to get her dolled up for the big day.

Cristal champagne – at £500 a bottle – flowed freely all night as 300 party-goers tucked into huge pots of caviar and caviar canapes and an opera singer belted out arias on a balcony above them.

They then dined on calamari, spinach ravioli, lamb chops and chocolate pudding with ice-cream

And to top it all, pop superstar Alicia Keys took to the stage to perform at the end of the night.

One friend says it was like being in a fairytale: “It was the most fantastic setting. Our menus were customised mirrors with our names etched into them. It was easily the most decadent pre-wedding dinner any of us had been to. Then Alicia came on and sang all of her hits. She began with Empire State of Mind and everybody was singing along. We couldn’t believe it – it was magical.”

Petra wore a £150,000 Vera Wang gown to say her vows yesterday and Bernie forked out £800,000 for the Black Eyed Peas to perform at the reception. However, family friend Eric Clapton sang the newlyweds’ first dance for free.

Oh to be Daddy’s little rich girl, eh!
