Dave Chappelle Has A Way To Get People Off Their Cell Phones At Shows — But Is This A Good Idea?!

no title

This is inneresting, but will it work?!

Dave Chappelle is partnering with a company called Yondr to try and get audience members at his comedy shows off their phones for the night — and he's doing it by locking phones up!

For Chappelle and other comedians concerned about having their acts taped, the idea of making it so that people can't access their phones during shows is attractive — and the partner company is now developing the technology to do just that.

Basically, it works like this:

When a ticket-holder enters the venue, a staff member hands them a pouch where they can place their phone during the show. Once the phone is placed in the pouch, and the fan walks into the theater, the pouch automatically locks!

The only way to unlock the pouch to retriever your phone, then, is to walk back out of the theater into the main foyer, where the pouch will automatically unlock again, and the ticket-holder can make calls, sends texts, tweet, or do whatever else they need to do.

It's an interesting technology, for sure — but it seems like it'd be fraught with quite a few problems, too!

What do U think, Perezcious readers?! Would this just be annoying AF to have to deal with at a show, or are you in favor of taking phones away during performances??
